If your child is not eligible for special education
If you disagree with the school’s evaluation of your child, you have the right to ask for an evaluation by someone who doesn’t work for the school. This is called an “independent evaluation.” Learn more here.
If the school district asks you why you disagree with their evaluation, you do NOT have to tell them why. Just tell them that you want an independent evaluation and ask them again to give you a list of independent evaluators.
