a. Malpractice Insurance: Malpractice insurance will be provided by and through Statewide Legal Services on all cases referred through Call4Law for advice within the scope of the limited consultation.
b. Conflicts of Interest: Rule 6.5of the Rules of Professional Conduct applies to Call4Law advice. Therefore, so long as the representation is within the scope of limited consultation, it would only create a conflict of interest if the Call4Law attorney actually knows of the conflict or that his or her law firm has a conflict.
c. Documentation of Individualized Legal Services: Call4Law is required to document that the client was provided individualized legal assistance tailored to the client’s situation. Failure to document individualized legal service requires the file to be closed as a non-reportable file for our funding purposes.
d. Managing Client’s Expectations: There is no guarantee that Statewide Legal Services will be able to provide additional services to the client. Volunteers should approach each referral as if the service they provide will be all the service the client receives.
