A victim's advocate may be able to assist you with filling out the paperwork. To find a victim's advocate in your area, call 1-803-256-2900 or you may contact your local domestic violence advocacy group which can be found at http://www.sccadvasa.org/Get-Help/
You may also qualify to be represented by an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, you can apply for assistance at South Carolina Legal Services by calling 1-888-346-5592 Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
We recommend being represented by an attorney if possible. However, it is possible to fill out the forms and file on your own. If you do not have an attorney, you will be responsible for filling out the forms correctly and representing yourself in Court at a hearing.
There is a program that helps you with the steps to fill out the forms on your own. You can find that program here: https://lawhelpinteractive.org/Interview/InterviewHome?templateId=6711
