When you enter the Courthouse, you will need to go through the metal detector. For this reason, we recommend that you empty your pockets before entering. Do not take a bag unless it is necessary. Do not take any weapons into the Courtroom.
You will proceed through the metal detector. Be sure to arrive at the courthouse with plenty of time to park and go through the metal detector before your hearing starts. There may be a line of people waiting to go through the metal detector.
If you do not feel comfortable waiting in the same room as the abuser, you can ask a law enforcement officer or a victim advocate if there is another room you could wait in.
If you need an escort to your vehicle after you exit the courthouse, ask a law enforcement office to walk with you.
