To apply for a pardon, you will need to obtain the application from the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services. It can be downloaded in a fillable format at www.dppps.sc.gov. To accompany the application you will need:
- Three letters of support from individuals not related to you by blood or by marriage.
- A $100 non-refundable fee (money order) to be paid to the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services.
- All fines, fees, and restitution must be fully satisfied.
- Any probation, parole, and sentencing should be complete, however, there a few exceptions.
- Probationers must be discharged from supervision.
- Parolees must have completed 5 years under supervision, or the maximum parole period if less than 5 years.
- Inmates prior to becoming parole eligible with proof of extraordinary circumstances.
- Inmates with terminal illness with a life expectancy of 1 year or less.
- You will need to list all charges along with your arrest date and county of conviction that you wish you to be pardoned. It is helpful to obtain a copy of your SLED report, so that you will not omit any convictions.
- A completed pardon application to be submitted to SCDPPPS, P.O. Box 207, Columbia, SC 29202.
