How do I obtain a copy of my criminal record?

There are a few ways to see what is on your criminal record in South Carolina. 

  1. You may obtain a copy of your SLED report at SLEDCATCHFormfillable.pdf (sc.gov) or going to  www.sled.sc.gov where you will select the "SLED CATCH" link, then "Criminal Record Check Form."
    •   You will need to enter your full name, date of birth, social security number, and a debit/credit card information to pay the $25 fee.
    • A SLED report will show your charges incurred in South Carolina.
  2. Have your fingerprints taken. Some local law enforcement offices will allow you come in and have your fingerprints taken. This method will show convictions obtained Nationwide.
  3. Check the public index. You can search the public index by visiting www.sccourts.org and selecting the records search link to the right. This link will bring up an interactive map of South Carolina. You can then choose the county where your conviction occurred and search your name.
  4. If you have been denied employment after a review of your background check, you should ask the employer for a copy of the report used to make their decision.
