Pre-Expungement Checklist

  1. Obtain a copy of your criminal record from www.sled.sc.gov.
  2. Get the final disposition/sentencing sheet of the charge you are attempting to have expunged. You may get this document from the court where your case was heard. It includes important information such as your warrant number, arrest date and the result of the case.
  3. Locate and complete the appropriated expungement application from the Solicitor's Office that serves the county where you were convicted.
  4. Depending on the county you may need to have available your driver’s license and social security card.
  5. Contact an attorney or confirm with the expungement coordinator for the solicitor's office your expungement eligibility and the amount of fees needed. Fees are NONREFUNDABLE even if your application is not processed.
  6. Obtain the appropriate expungement fees (in the form of money orders).

The final entry in this classroom will direct you to the appropriate form for your county.
