If your case is in Honolulu District Court - continue reading.
During your Pre-Trial hearing, the judge may refer your case to mediation. This means that a trained professional - a mediator - will help you reach an agreement with your landlord, so you do not have to spend time and money fighting you case in trial. If you cannot reach an agreement in mediation, the judge will give you two deadlines/dates: (1) deadline to exchange exhibits, and (2) trial date. Write down these two deadlines/dates in your calendar so you don't forget.
