When the school receives your letter asking for a PPT meeting, it should contact you to schedule the meeting. The school will also send you a notice that tells you the date, time, and location for the meeting. Here is an example of what the notice will look like.
It is very important that you go to the PPT meeting. Write the date of the meeting on your calendar, put a reminder in your phone if you have one, or ask someone to help you remember the date and time of the meeting.
At the PPT meeting,
- the team talks about child’s performance (academic, social, behavior).
- you will have the chance to talk about your concerns about your child’s performance.
- you should ask for your child to be evaluated for special education services.
- the team makes a decision about what evaluations the school will conduct.
- the parent must agree to the evaluations in writing.
