A divorce case begins with the filing of a Complaint for Divorce. The Complaint for Divorce is a written request to the court for a divorce. The person who asks for this legal action is called the Plaintiff and remains the Plaintiff throughout the case.
A filing fee is required. Contact the Clerk of the District Court for the amount of the filing fee and what forms of payment are accepted. This may vary by county.
There are other forms you must file with the Complaint. Read each step below (Steps 2a - 2f) to complete the forms required for filing your case.
