The Complaint for Divorce (form can be found here: Complaint form) is filed with the Clerk of the District Court in the county where you or your spouse reside.
When you file the Complaint for Divorce a case number, also called a Civil Action Case Number, is assigned by the Court, and an official court case file is opened. You will use this case number on all further paperwork in the caption, which is found at the top of any pleading, motion, complaint or order, and which also includes the name of the Plaintiff, Defendant, and District Court in which the case is filed.
